Highly Capable (HCP)
The window for Highly Capable Services referral is open until Jan 31. Anyone may refer a student for evaluation. All students in second and fifth grade will be screened for potential eligibility.
Which students should be referred for Highly Capable Program (HCP) services?
Highly capable students are students who perform or show potential for performing at significantly advanced academic levels when compared with others of their age, experiences, or environments.
Port Townsend School District offers a Continuum of Services for Highly Capable Students
The goals of district HCP services are:
- To maintain a high level of engagement in education programming K-12.
- To develop personal competence leading to exceptional academic achievement.
- To develop social competence manifested in positive peer relationships and leadership skills.
- To demonstrate advanced and complex learning in their area(s) of strength
