Substitutes

Thank you for your interest in being a substitute for the Port Townsend School District.  Substitutes are an important support for our staff and students.  Substitutes are hired on an on-call, as-needed basis throughout our district at all grade levels.

Substitute Opportunities
The Port Townsend School District uses an automatic substitute notification system that sends job announcements to substitutes for Teaching, ParaEducator, and Secretarial assignments.  These can be received via phone calls, voice mails, emails, and/or texts.

Food Service and Custodial substitute assignments come from those departments directly via phone calls and/or emails.

The Bus substitute assignments are issued from the Transportation Department at the Chimacum School District and start out from the Chimacum Bus Barn facility.

Substitute Teacher Requirement

Emergency Certificated Substitutes are valid only for our district and activated when there is a need for additional substitutes.  Requires a BA or BS degree or higher from an accredited college or university and the ability to obtain a WA State OSPI Emergency Substitute Certificate for the Port Townsend School District.
