"Discover the Power of Learning"
Port Townsend is a great place to live, work, raise a family and enjoy numerous recreational activities. The community is very supportive of the Port Townsend School District providing enriching activities through Centrum, the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation, Building Futures (formerly Big Brothers and Big Sisters), the YMCA, Jefferson County Parks and Recreation, PTA, the Port Townsend Education Foundation, and various other youth oriented activities and clubs.
The District had an annual average enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year of 1256.76 FTE. The district employs a total of 78 certificated instructional staff. The annual operating budget is $13,171,744 for the 2012-2013 school year.
In February of 2011, the voters passed a four-year continuation of the Educational Programs Levy (formerly titled the Maintenance & Operations Levy). The name of the levy was changed to better reflect the use of the funds.
