Bus Transportation

Port Townsend School District provides bus transportation within theguidelines established by the School Board. The district also providesbuses for field trips and extracurricular activities. Buses areinspected annually by the Washington State Patrol. Recently, Port Townsend School District was recognized by OSPI Superintendent Randy Dorn and Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste for outstanding school bus inspection results for two years in a row.  Click here to see the letter.

Riding the school bus is a privilege that may be denied to anystudent who does not demonstrate acceptable behavior. Bus rules aregiven to students at the beginning of the school year.

Please have your child at the bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time.

Parents are reminded that, for safety purposes, studentsare to ride the regularly assigned bus at all times unless permissionhas been granted by school authorities. If you wish your child to ridea different bus, please send a note to school with the day's date, child's name and your signature. Because of the change this year to a single bus run, the buses will routinely run at near capacity.  Please check with the Bus Barn or the school before assuming your child can ride another bus home.

Bus routes are adjusted throughout the year, as new students enter the district.  Please check the Quick Links on the homepage for up-to-date route information.  See instructions under Announcements at the top of the page.  If you have questions about your child's bus route, or have other questions or comments for Transportation Supervisor Diana Post, call the Bus Barn at 360 732-4040.

The School Districtrecommends that parents design a back-up plan with their students inthe event a bus is late or their student misses the bus and parentshave already left for work.
